If you are from Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware, you have known about the wonders of Wawa for a while, but for this southern gal, it wasn't until they started popping up in Florida that I discovered the magic! My husband, who is from New Jersey, knew all about Wawa - he used to have a hoagie from there at least once a week growing up, and even after we got married, his parents would bring him back a hoagie from Wawa when they drove to New Jersey to visit family!
In 2012, the first Wawa opened in Orlando, and since then, there are more than 70 in the central Florida area!
So why am I writing a blog post about how great a gas station is? Well, if you've been to Wawa, then you know, but if you haven't, let me tell you why.
- Hoagies - Wawa has the best hoagies. In the south we call these sandwiches 'subs,' but no matter what you call them, Wawa has the best - no question. And you don't even have to talk to a person to order one! They have these awesome kiosks where you can order food or coffee and customize your sandwich or coffee drink however you would like. You then take the receipt, go to the register to pay, and then wait for your number to be called. It's so great.
- Coffee - The coffee at Wawa is far better than Starbucks in my opinion. You order specialty coffee drinks at the same kiosk as above, or you can use their self service coffee and cappuccino machines. You have MANY options, and all the fixings you could want.
- Cold drinks - If you know me, you know I love a Coke icee (when I was 8 months pregnant I actually tripped over a wavy mirror at the checkout of IKEA because I was running/waddling over to excitedly tell my husband that they had icees!) Wawa not only has Icees, they have the Freestyle Coca-Cola machines! AND the "'good'' ice!
- Fresh fruit - Most gas stations don't offer healthy food options, but Wawa offers fresh cut fruit, salads, yogurt and other healthy grab-and-go options!
So there you have it - all of the reasons I love Wawa.
Have you been to Wawa before? What is your favorite thing about it?
And if you haven't been to a Wawa, be sure to find one when you are visiting Orlando (or Pennsylvania and the DC area) and let me know what you think!
