6 tips for buying clothes on Poshmark

I love secondhand clothes - I have a lot of clothes that I love that were handed down to me from friends, I also have a lot of clothes from Goodwill.  However, when I'm looking for something specific I use Poshmark - the online consignment site. On Poshmark, you purchase items directly from individual sellers.  You can use Poshmark online, or there is also an app you can download and use.  (These pics are from the app.) 

Tip #1 - Follow brands.  Most of us have brands that we love - that we know fit us well.  You can follow these brands on Poshmark - and then see what items have come in that are that brand!  It's a great way to narrow down a search for what you are looking for to a brand you already know and love.  

Tip #2 - Complete the "My Size" portion of your account.  When you complete the 'My Size' part of your account, your searches are automatically filtered to only include your size!  This is awesome - as there is nothing more frustrating that seeing the perfect item only to find that it isn't your size!  You can also sort by color, category, and brand.  

Tip #3 - "Like" items to get special offers.  When you click the heart on an item, the seller is notified - many times, the seller will send a special offer on an item that is only sent to the people who liked that item!  If you have a question about sizing, material, or condition you can also comment on a listing.  

Tip #4 - Sort by price (always!)  Because you are buying from individual sellers on Poshmarks, prices can vary widely - sometimes the same item is available from different closets, and by sorting by price you can find the least expensive one!  (I ALWAYS sort by price when I'm online shopping!)

Tip #5 - Bundle and save.  Shipping costs are $6.79 on Poshmark - per order, so if you are able to find multiple items from the same seller, you can combine shipping on those items!  Additionally, many sellers have built in discounts on bundles of 3 or more items!  Finally, when you add multiple items to a bundle from one seller, you can offer an even lower price - who knows?  They may accept it!!!  The items in the picture below are from my most recent Poshmark purchase - all from one closet!

Tip #6 - Know your measurements.  When sellers include measurements on an item (or you can request them if they don't), they are being measured lying flat.  So, grab your favorite pair of pants, dress, shirt and skirt, and measure these items - across the waist, hips, bust, and length.  That way you will have an idea of what measurements would fit you.
