Do Good!

What does the Bible say about DOING GOOD?  I have been writing down all the verses that mention "do good" in an attempt to learn for myself what it means to DO GOOD.  I thought I'd compile them in a list for you.  (I believe that these verses are all from the New Living Translation.)
  • "Trust in the Lord and do good.  Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.  (Psalm 37:3)
  • "If you plan good, you will be granted unfailing love and faithfulness."  (Proverbs 14:22)
  • "Learn to do good. Seek justice.  Help the oppressed.  Defend the orphan.  Fight for the rights of widows."  (Isaiah 1:17)
  • "Feed the hungry and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day.  The Lord will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy too.  You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring."  (Isaiah 58:10-11)
  • "You welcome those who cheerfully do good, who follow godly ways." (Isaiah 64:5)
  • "Love your enemies.  Do good to those who hate you.  Pray for the happiness of those who curse you.  Pray for those who hurt you.  If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn the other cheek.  If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also.  Give what you have to anyone who asks for it, and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back.  Do for others as you would like them to do for you. . . . You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate."  (Luke 6:27-31, 36)
  • "When God's children are in need, be the one to help them out.  And get into the habit of inviting guests home for dinner or, if they need lodging, for the night. . . . Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. . . . Do your part to live in peace with everyone. . . . If your enemies are hungry, feed them.  If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. . . . Conquer evil by doing good."  (Romans 12:13-21)
  • "It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves.  Our only power and success come from God." (2 Corinthians 3:5)
  • "See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else."  (1 Thessalonians 5:15)
  • "For our people should not have unproductive lives.  They must learn to do good by helping others who have urgent needs."  (Titus 3:14)
  • "Don't forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God."  (Hebrews 13:16)
  • "We are made right with God by what we do, not be faith alone. . . . Just as the body is dead without a spirit, so also faith is dead without good deeds."  (James 2:24, 26)
  • "If you are wise and understand God's ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth.  And if you don't brag about the good you do, then you will be truly wise!"  (James 3:13)
  • "Remember, it is a sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it."  (James 4:17)
  • "Remember that those who do good prove that that are God's children and those who do evil prove that they do not know God."  (3 John 1:11)
