Toy Story Land

We have been so excited about the opening of Toy Story Land around our house - we are big Toy Story fans - it is our favorite family movie and both kids can quote it almost completely!

So although we couldn't be there for opening day (although I'm not sure I could have handled that with 2 kids), we were able to go in July.  We didn't have fast passes (those are hard to come by), but the lines weren't too bad when we went, so we were able to ride all three rides.

Here are my thoughts on Toy Story Land:

  • It is HOT in Toy Story Land.  Like hotter than anywhere else in Hollywood Studios.  There is little to no shade (small umbrellas) and no indoor areas to duck into for some air conditioning.  Be prepared for that with hats, sunscreen, water, and whatever else.  :)
  • The details are AWESOME!  From big to small, there is something to see everywhere you look.  I loved the big Woody that greets you as you enter the land and the big Buzz that is outside the Swirling Alien Saucer ride.  Both TALK which is a cool added detail.  I especially like that the height chart for the Slinky Dog ride was a classic Candyland gamepiece.  So cute!

  • WALLS!  I will be doing a feature on Disney walls soon, but apparently Disney parks has been seeing all the wall pics all over Instagram.  They put in several walls that appear to be specifically made for Instagram pics!  :)  The two most popular are on the exit of the Toy Story Mania ride - a popsicle stick wall and a checkerboard wall.  Very cute photo backdrops!

  • Toy Story Mania - This is the same ride that was in Hollywood Studios - the renamed Midway Mania.  It's still a great ride, with even more fun toy details in the queue.
  • Swirling Alien Saucers is a fun spinning ride!  As long as you don't have a sensitive stomach, it is a lot of fun!  You can see the video of the ride that my 7 year old future filmmaker took of it here.  :)  The music is fun, and I can see that it would be at totally different experience at night!
  • Slinky Dog Dash - this is an AWESOME roller coaster!  It is for 38"+ so even my petite 4 year old girl could ride it! As soon as we got off she said, "I want to try that again!" We loved it. The ride itself is fun and the details are Toy Story perfection!  My absolute favorite part was Wheezy singing to you at the end of the ride.

  • Characters - You can meet Buzz, Woody and Jessie - and the army men also come through playing drums and interactive games with the kids - CastiĆ©l loved that part!

Overall we really enjoyed our time in Toy Story Land, but I'm looking forward to visiting in the fall when it isn't quite so hot!
