Pantone Color Trends for 2019

Every year, Pantone chooses a color for the year.  Pantone is the company that sets the standard for color in design and created a color matching system that allows for color accuracy across industries.

So why should you care?  Because they are looking at trends when they choose this color, you can expect to see it in fashion, home decor, and graphic designs.

The color for 2019 is Living Coral.  This color is described as "an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge."

If you are like me, you aren't looking to change your entire wardrobe with each year's trends; however, it is nice to be able to inject some on-trend pieces into your existing wardrobe! Sometimes it is difficult to find the season's new colors at a thrift store, which is my usual go-to for clothing, so I find that the best way to do that is through accessories and jewelry!  Trades of Hope allows me to purchase items that are on-trend AND fair trade!

If you want a quick way to inject Living Coral into your wardrobe, the Change Earrings and the Belonging Bracelets are the way to go!  The Change Earrings are made in Pakistan by women whose lives are being changed for the better!  They are able to make an income allowing them to be self-reliant, and they are also receiving reading and writing classes!  The Belonging Bracelets, made in India, have 12 individual bracelets that can be worn together or separately!  They are made by women who have the opportunity to earn an income and receive education and healthcare.

There are a few other colors that I am loving and can't wait to integrate into my wardrobe - they are Princess Blue and Mango Mojito (doesn't that one sound delicious?!?)

The blue items I am loving are the Waterfall Necklace and the Tassel earrings.  Wouldn't they look great together?  The Tassel earrings actually come with another pair, in Toffee, and are made in Thailand, by a diverse group of women who typically have to leave their children to find work in the city. By making these earrings they are able to stay in their hometown and stay with their children!  The Waterfall necklace is made in Uganda by an artisan group headed by Florence, a war refugee who wanted to provide more for her family and her community.

Finally, for Mango Mojito I am loving this Alice Set, made in Kenya!  It is named after Alice (pictured below), one of the artisans who makes it.  Alice lost her legs to polio as a child and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.  Being able to work with this artisan group gives her more freedom and the ability to provide for herself.  She receives medical care and her children have the opportunity to go to school.
